Watching TiVo'ed Programming on a Mac, Part 2

Thanks to a comment from megazone on my last post, I tried watching a converted MPEG-2 file using VLC media player, and it works. Sweet!

Even better: I can view the file over my home network; there is no need to copy the file over to the Mac to watch it. That saves me an hour.

I still might give EtiVo a try, because its compression feature will allow me to store more movies on my hard drive.

Maybe Apple or TiVo should license the MPEG-2 codec from the VLC people. Then maybe we Mac users could have our own TiVo Desktop application.
